Summer 2007 Recap

This summer Project Kesho worked with a local artist to improve the learning environment at Lundamatwe and Ulonge Primary Schools. Every classroom, originally bare gray cement, was painted with vibrant educational pictures labeled in English and Swahili. Now children spend their school days surrounded with learning opportunities in two languages!

Project Kesho worked with local primary school children to clear a playfield for soccer and to improve the playground equipment available. The pictures above show some of the field clearing with local children and Ian working to repair the playground equipment.

Our organization worked with local community members and the Lundamatwe Primary School to build bathroom facilities for the girls at Lundamatwe. To complete this project, the community worked with us to dig a hole six feet wide and ten feet deep using pick axes and shovels. After the hole was completed, local builders worked to create the bathrooms. In just three weeks, the facilities were completed, improving the learning conditions of local school girls.
