Primary School Success Program

Project Kesho used the first week of our summer programming to distribute school supplies and sneakers to students. At the Lundamatwe Primary School Project Kesho distributed 1800 pencils, 900 pens, 900 toothbrushes, 600 erasers, and 70 pairs of sneakers. At the Ulonge Primary School, Project Kesho distributed 450 pencils, 225 erasers, and 225 toothbrushes.

Teachers at both schools identified a need for more visual instructional support materials to be used in their classrooms. After discussing the problem with teachers, Project Kesho decided that instead of purchasing posters, which would wear out and need replacement we would instead fund the painting of the classroom walls with information that could be used as a teaching aide. Project Kesho funded the painting of all four classrooms at the Ulonge Primary School and seven rooms at the Lundamatwe Primary School. The paintings were created to coincide with the learning objectives of each grade level and all text was created in both Swahili and English.
